Santa Rosa Junior College hosted Shasta College at Santa Rosa High School’s football field for the game three of the 2019 this past Saturday, Sept. 21.

Bear Cubs scored first on a 1-yard run by Will Heckman  after five minutes of game-time, but Shasta would tie it back up with a 48-yard punt return seven minutes later.

Santa Rosa would take the lead briefly with a field goal by Kevin Nguyen early in the second quarter, but Shasta would counter again and take the lead six minutes later and never look back.

There was a brief moment of hope on a fumble recovery with less than two minutes remaining, but Santa Rosa was unable to capitalize on the turnover.

Santa Rosa lost to Shasta 24-17.

Santa Rosa plays College of the Sequoias in Visalia next Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
