The Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs dominance in the third set sealed the win over Diablo Valley College on Sept. 22 at Haehl Pavilion.

The Bear Cubs [2-1 conference, 9-4 overall] started the game without captain and starting libero Emily O’Brien but didn’t let it slow them down and jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

Freshman defensive specialist Payton Jones, said it was important for the Bear Cubs to be unified as a team in order to overcome O’Brien’s absence.

SRJC was firing on all cylinders in the third set and defeated Diablo Valley 25-11.

“It feels nice to win in three,” said SRJC head coach Kaitlin Ferguson.

The Bear Cubs move on to face Cosumnes River College at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 in Haehl Pavilion.
