The Oak Leaf

A tree falls on SRJC campus

One branch of a mighty oak tree lays across the entrance from Mendocino Ave. to the Santa Rosa Junior College Nov. 19.

Another majestic oak tree lost a limb, blocking the turn-around entrance and barely missing the Santa Rosa Junior College sign in the evening Wednesday Nov. 19.

The limb succumbed to age, rain, wind and gravity around 6 p.m., blocking the entrance leading to the front of the school and Burbank Hall, north of the parking garage.

SRJC District Police were called out where they assessed the danger and placed blockades and caution tape surrounding the fallen limb.

The fallen branch, large enough to be its own tree, spanned across the original entrance of SRJC, just missing the sign and brick cornerstones of its support.
