On probation with drugs

An SRJC District Police officer who was patrolling Richmond Drive observed two subjects huddled around a bicycle in front of a residence known to deal drugs around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 24.

He made contact and asked them what they were doing and proceeded to run a check on the subjects.

One of the subjects, Delmus Crowe, 53, came up on probation, the terms of which made him subject to search and seizure at all times.

The officer then performed a search and discovered several prescription meds, one of which was a morphine sulfate, and placed him under arrest.

Stolen iPad and drugs

A District Police officer patrolling Steele Lane observed a suspicious subject on a bicycle around 2:45 a.m. on Jan. 23 and proceeded to follow him.

The officer saw the subject peering into a dumpster near In n’ Out and recognized him from previous encounters. He knew he was on probation and subject to search and seizure.

The officer made contact and searched Louis C. Smith, 24, and discovered a bindle of methamphetamine and an iPad.

The officer questioned Smith about the iPad and he claimed it was his, but when the iPad was turned on the owner’s phone number appeared on the screen.

The officer called the owner, who confirmed that the iPad was stolen. Smith was arrested and the iPad was returned to the victim.

Possession of meth pipes

SRJC District Police arrested a man and a woman for possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia near Steele Lane and Rowe Drive on Jan. 22.

A District Police officer patrolling Steele Lane observed a woman he knew was on probation from previous encounters.

The officer proceeded to make contact with the woman, Krystal L. Allen, 31, and the man she was with, Thomas H. Smith, 23, near Panera Bread around 5 p.m.

The officer questioned Allen if she had anything illegal on her person as Allen was subject to search and seizure by the terms of her probation.

Allen admitted to having a meth pipe in her possession.

The officer then questioned Smith and he also admitted to having the meth pipe but when the officer searched Smith he also found a bindle of methamphetamine.

The officer arrested Allen and Smith and they were booked into county jail.
