“Free” confronts victim at Taco Bell claiming owed money
An SRJC student nicknamed “Free” approached another man in front of Taco Bell who allegedly owed him money on Oct. 6. The two then got into a confrontation and the suspect made criminal threats. The same man had held the victim at gunpoint on two prior occasions, but was not arrested due to the fact that the case is ongoing with different police agencies.
The pickup and the blaze
At approximately 12:50 a.m. a suspect committed arson on campus by setting fire to the back of a pickup truck on Oct. 20. He then committed a second act of arson by setting fire to a trash can at a business on Armory Drive. Police arrested Scott Layman.
I’ll sell you back you bike, and then sell you 15 more
An SRJC student’s bike was stolen around 2 p.m. on the southwest corner of Plover Hall on Oct. 24. The victim then went on Craigslist.org and posted a picture of his bike. A man responded saying that he’d seen the bike. When the victim came to the house, the man tried to sell him back his bike and the victim refused. When SRJC Police arrived, they recovered a total of 16 bikes and arrested the suspect.
