A Few too Many

SRJC District Police arrested a man for driving under the influence near Mendocino Avenue and Carrillo Street late at night on March 29.

A District Police officer patrolling Healdsburg Avenue observed a silver Chevy Malibu driving northbound run a stop sign at 2:19 a.m.

The officer pulled the vehicle over and smelled alcohol upon making contact with the driver. The officer asked if he had anything to drink that night and driver responded that he had only had a few.

The officer submitted the driver to field sobriety tests and a breath test that showed the driver was driving with a BAC of .09 percent.

The officer arrested the driver, Mikal Quitorianostoney, 21, and released him at the scene to the care of a sober driver.

Way too Many

SRJC District Police arrested a man for public intoxication near Mendocino Avenue and Steele Lane in the afternoon on March 29.

A District Police officer patrolling Mendocino Avenue observed a man in front of the Big Lots parking lot staggering and yelling at passing cars.

The officer attempted to make contact with the man but the man appeared to ignore him and tried to walk away. The officer ran after him and made him sit down on the curb.

The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol and performed a breath test on the man that read out a BAC of .324 percent.

The officer placed the man, Richard Smith, 30, under arrest for public intoxication and booked him into jail.

Knife knowing you

SRJC District Police officers arrested a man for possession of a weapon on campus and multiple other charges early in the morning on March 26.

Two officers were patrolling near  Haehl parking lot when they noticed a man on campus around 1:45 a.m.

The officers approached the man and asked him questions about who he was and what he was doing. The man appeared nervous and gave the officers a false name.

Having probable cause, the officers searched the subject’s backpack and found marijuana, meth and a large fixed blade-knife.The officers handcuffed the man and contacted dispatch to ascertain the subject’s identity.

Dispatch said they found someone in their database who might match the description and asked the officers if the subject had a certain tattoo on his neck.

The suspect, Thomas Dunaway, 32, who was propped against the hood of the police car, took off running at the mention of the tattoo.

Dunaway made it 100 yards before falling down and being caught and arrested by the two officers.

Dunaway was ultimately charged with possession of a weapon on campus, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, giving false identification to a peace officer and obstructing/resisting a peace officer.
