Jeffrey Holzworth, SRJC district police officer for 28 years arrested for possible grand theft and embezzlement, appeared in court for his arraignment Monday morning, but the filing of charges was postponed until 8:30 a.m. Dec. 17 because the investigation is ongoing.

Deputy District Attorney Amy Ariyushi said the DA’s office is waiting for documents from financial institutions. She said she has no idea how much Holzworth may have embezzled nor could she provide a time frame in which the alleged embezzlement took place. Ariyushi said that Holzworth had cash on him when he was apprehended, but could not specify an amount.

Holzworth posted bail last week and will remain free.

Outside of the courtroom Holzworth appeared emotional but controlled. He declined to comment, but when told that the college community is devastated he looked at the ground and simply said, “I know.”
