Q: What drew you to SRJC?
A: My own college education started at a community college. So in the back of my head I always knew that I was coming back to community college eventually to teach.

Q: What inspired you to work in your chosen field?
A: My general chemistry professor at the community college was amazing and unlike the way I was taught, you have to memorize everything, he tried to explain the why. He entertained all my why questions.

Q: What does learning mean to you?
A: Learning one thing always leads to more questions. So it’s kind of like a never-ending journey. And I may not find the answer to everything I want to learn about but that’s the reason I’m alive, I guess. Without that curiosity, I might as well be — that’s how I feel — I might as well be dead.

Q: How do you like your eggs?
A: Sunny-side-up… I don’t eat to live; I live to eat.
