Bear Cubs Kick Off Fall Sports Season

Santa Rosa Junior College fall sports are here, and soccer is leading the way.

The Bear Cubs men’s soccer start team starts its season at 11 a.m. Aug. 29 at Dominican College. Coming off a 10-8-1 season and a first round exit from NorCal playoffs, the Bear Cubs are looking to improve even further in 2019.

The women’s team plays its first game at 11 a.m. Aug. 30 at Butte College. SRJC made it to the second round of NorCal playoffs last season before losing to No. 1 seeded Sierra College.

SRJC volleyball also kicks off Aug. 30 with a home match up against Foothill College. The Bear Cubs look to improve on a 14-15 finish last season.

SRJC wrestling has an intersquad meet at 4 p.m. Sept. 6 at home to kick off the season. The Bear Cubs tied for eighth place in the State Wrestling Championship last season, and the program is looking to continue its success in 2019.

Bear Cub football plays its first game at 5 p.m. Sept. 7 at home against Fresno College. With last year’s starting quarterback Jake Simmons now at San Jose State, a lot of intrigue surrounds the Bear Cubs early in the season.

SRJC cross country takes part in the Lou Vasques meet at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 19 in San Francisco. The men’s team finished eighth in NorCal playoffs last year, and the women finished second.
