SRJC’s Student Government Assembly meets every Monday of fall and spring semesters from 3-5:00 p.m. on the Santa Rosa campus in the Senate Chambers in Bertolini Student Center.

Santa Rosa Junior College students can now vote for candidates for Student Government Assembly positions for the Fall 2024 to Spring 2025 school year.

It’s that time of year when students get to flex their democratic muscles and steer the ship of student life. Voting will remain open until midnight on May 3. Voting is accessible through the student portal, via a green pop-up menu with a “Vote Now” prompt, which should appear after students log in.

After clicking on the menu students will be redirected to the Student Government Assembly Elections webpage where they can vote for all student assembly positions and their student trustee.

This year 21 candidates are running for 11 different positions in the SGA along with the role of student trustee.

Some of the candidate positions on the ballet may be blank, but this doesn’t mean they will remain vacant.

Thanks to the Election Code Article VII Section 2E, there’s a mechanism in place to potentially elect students to those positions through write-in votes.

For write-in candidates to qualify for an elected position they must secure a minimum of 50 write-in votes or at least 5% percent of the total votes cast in the Spring 2024 Student Election.
It’s essential to note that write-in candidates who fall short of the write-in vote requirement won’t be elected, even if they receive the most votes for a particular position.

For students who have yet to settle on who to vote for, the Election Guide provides candidate bios, platforms and visions for enhancing the student experience at SRJC. Students can also find descriptions of each SGA position in the guide to better understand the candidates’ responsibilities should they be elected.
