The sun sets behind a set of palm trees near Analy Village as smoke from the Butte County fire encompasses the surrounding area.

Santa Rosa Junior College is closed Nov. 8 and 9 due to poor air quality from the Butte County fire north of Chico.

Director of District and Community Relations Erin Bricker emailed students Thursday evening informing them of the closure.

All classes and activities on those days are canceled.

Sonoma State also alerted its students via email and canceled their Thursday and Friday classes.

Other school districts, such as Santa Rosa City School district, are keeping a close eye on the air quality levels.
