Explosions at Boston Marathon

Two explosions occurred near the finish line of the Boston Marathon at approximately 2:50 p.m. EST April 15.

The Boston Police Department has reported two dead and 23 injured.

The current victim count is three dead and 176 injured, 17 of those in critical condition.

April 15 4:24 p.m. EST update:  A Federal law enforcement authority confirmed to ABC News this was an intentional bombing using small portable explosive devices.

April 15 4:35 p.m. EST update: A senior U.S. intelligence official said two more undetonated explosive devices were found near the marathon finish line, and were being dismantled.

April 15 3:10 p.m. update: President Obama made a statement vowing to give federal support to the wounded and their families, aid to keep Boston safe and justice for those responsible.

April 15 5:37 p.m. update: Boston PD’s public information bureau chief, Cheryl Fiandaca, reports a third incident at the John F. Kennedy Library was due to a fire and not related to the marathon explosions.
