Rotten tree closes Humboldt Street to traffic

The tree fell around 1 p.m. Thursday on Humboldt Street in Santa Rosa, damaging one vehicle and injuring none.

A tree fell across “Bicycle Boulevard” at its intersection with College Avenue at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, damaging one vehicle and injuring none. Santa Rosa Police Department officers and firefighters were on the scene within 15 minutes of the fall.

Nearby residents called emergency services upon hearing the tree collapse, according to those present at the site.

City maintenance was on the scene by 3 p.m. to clear the tree. A city maintenance worker confirmed to The Oak Leaf that the tree fell due to internal rot.

SRPD officers diverted traffic around the nearby Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts. No cars could enter the street from College Avenue.

The tree removed the front grill of a Subaru in the fall. No injuries were reported.
