A first-year Santa Rosa Junior College student died on May 4 after the vehicle he was a passenger in hit another car at high speed on Valley Ford Road in west Sonoma County, according to the California Highway Patrol.  

David Etling, 18, of Petaluma was with driver Isidro Moya, 19, and Allejandro Hernandez, 18, when Moya lost control of the car and swerved into oncoming traffic.

The car struck the vehicle of Douglas and Cessna Kaye, 70 and 82, killing Etling in the collision. The accident happened at approximately 4:40 pm north of Two Rock near Walker Road.

Hernandez and both Kayes were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Moya was treated for his minor injuries, arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of an unspecified drug with his bail set at $100,000 on Friday.
