Student government representatives and police removed more than a dozen provocative fliers posted in violation of school policy on the main Santa Rosa Junior College campus Wednesday night, authorities said.

Campus police heard Thursday morning through a chain of sources that two men posted the fliers the read, “It’s okay to be white,” around 8 or 9 p.m. Nov. 15.

Earlier this month, the Washington Post reported that fliers like this have been appearing on college campuses and other public spaces throughout the country and said an alt-right chat room propagated the idea to cause social unrest.

President Frank Chong said the fliers are a form of speech meant to divide the community and that the college is dedicated to protecting free speech that is productive and respectful.

“We work, teach and learn together in this amazing academic community that is better and stronger for our diversity,” Chong said in an email to the college community.

Santa Rosa Junior College District Police Lieutenant Robert Brownlee said the college is working with the FBI, which monitors nationwide trends that may provoke violence.

“We have a safety concern to monitor these groups and see what they’re doing on college campuses to make sure that violence doesn’t erupt as it has traditionally this past year,” Brownlee said.

Brownlee said he and his fellow officers have not seen any fliers on campus since after this morning’s effort to remove them.

I’m pretty sure the slogan “its okay to be white” is just to prove our racial bias. Its okay to say and put in print “black lives matter” but it would be considered racist to put in print “it’s okay to be white,” it doesn’t say being white matters, it just says its okay. How would anyone feel if it was printed “white lives matter”

I DON’T necessarily think this is a statement of racism.
Lets set up one of those HUGE servey boards at the main Elliot cross walk/Library breezeway where students can add a post it or just write on with sharpie ” What is it o.K. to be..?” Everyone can contribute their own idea.
“It’s ok to be single” “It’s ok to wear yellow” “its ok to ETC”
