Men’s Tennis sets sights high

Alex Campbell, Sports Editor

The men’s Tennis team is looking to build on last season’s success and win the Big 8 Conference this year.

First season player, Chase Sariaslani, is excited about the chance to compete this year on a team he feels is talented with players who are among the conferences best.

“Tom Ou is a fantastic player, he played unbelievable today against Foothill College,” Sariaslani said.

The team lost 9-0 in a pre-season game to an unusually good Foothill team Feb. 11 at SRJC. Foothill was stocked with expert European players.

“They have a lot of foreigners. It’s really tough when teams recruit foreigners,” Sariaslani said. “I have a friend on the women’s team who is from Europe, and she said the only sports they play over there is soccer and tennis.”

The team will face Sierra College at 1 p.m. on Feb. 21 at SRJC to open conference play. Admission is free.
